Cody N. has given his life and career to serve Canada in the military. He purchased a home in Cold Lake, Alta. and is now being posted to Ontario.  He would like to port his mortgage, but the problem now is that he was approved two years ago at the contract rate. Under the new mortgage rules, Cody now must qualify at the mortgage-qualifying rate, which has reduced his purchase price to the point that he can’t afford to purchase a home in his new posting.  So now he is going to have to pay the penalty which is no longer being covered by the military. Cody will have to go back to renting and wait to see if he can possibly afford a home in four or five years when he gets posted to a different area of the country.
