Yvonne D. is a single professional living in the Kensington area of Calgary, in the inner city close to the downtown.  She wanted to purchase a new condo, and considered a new building being built in her neighbourhood. The new place would keep her very close to her work downtown. Yvonne would also be able to stay in her area she’s grown to call home, which is an up-and-coming artsy type of area in the city. Before she had written an offer, the new rules came into effect which meant she had to now qualify at the benchmark 4.64 per cent rate. Yvonne could no longer afford the condo and instead decided she was going to continue to rent, cancelling the deal.
